The Little Black Dress

Whether you're heading off to an evening wedding, summer date night or a cocktail party, the little black dress is a no-fail option.

Since the introduction of the little back dress by Coco Chanel in 1926, it has become the epitome of timeless fashion.  Considered to be a staple of every woman's wardrobe, the little black dress is the answer to every "what should I wear to..." question.  Because it is meant to be an essential item in your wardrobe for a number of years, the style of the little black dress ideally should be as simple as possible.  You can spice it up this summer with bold colored jewelry and strappy shoes.

Before Coco Chanel introduced it as a fashion color, black was primarily used for mourning and considered indecent when worn outside such circumstances.  Lucky for us, this no longer holds true. As a concept, the little black dress has even moved on to represent an ideal of a perfectly simple, yet sexy object. Through the years, the little black dress has undergone hemline, shoulder, strap and fabric variations. A fashion anomaly, the concept of the little black dress never changes; it remains the height of elegance and simplicity.

The little black dress was intended by Chanel to be long-lasting, versatile, affordable, and accessible to the widest market possible and in a neutral color.  It knows no social, style or size boundaries.  No matter what the cost is, nor what size, size 2 or a size 22, it is still a little black dress.

Every woman needs a little black dress. It's the one garment you can always slip on when you aren't sure what to wear for the evening, but you need to look fabulous!!
